A Bridge Between Residents and Councillors
Stefan Pokroppa is the Coordinator for the Office of European Residents in Orihuela Costa Town Hall. The completely new post opened in July 2007, and Stefan is the bridge between the non-Spanish speaking residents and the councillors. He was kind enough to fit us into his busy schedule for this weeks ‘People and Places’ to give us a first hand insight into his role. |

Puri and the Majors
Cecilia Purificacion Guzman Perez, better known as Puri, was born in Candaleda, a small town in the picturesque Avila region in the province of Castilla Leon. She became a teacher after finishing college and moved away from there aged 26, living firstly in Catalunia and then Andalucia, before finally settling in Elche just over 30 years ago. Her parents still remained in Candaleda and she always returned regularly to visit them an having eventually inherited the house, she now goes back for holidays at least 3 times a year. |

British Champs Teaching At The Asturias
Mary Manock has been successfully running dancing classes with her husband Barry for the past year in the Asturias Restaurant. However, Mary and Barry are not just your normal teachers. This couple won the British Senior Latin American Championship in 1985, and just about every other competition going that year and this week, they speak to the ‘Leader’ about their successes. |
